This bus-powered firewall is typically placed within 50 feet of an automation system or computer with a RS- 232-C port (or USB port with USB to Serial adapter) and then CAT5 cabling (up to 4000 feet) connects the IBT-100TM with the CS-Bus TM network. Incoming serial commands are then received, processed and intelligently routed to any targeted CS-BusTM peripheral on the CS-BusTM network. Only one IBT- 100TM is required per network.

Built-in processor accurately connects CS-Bus equipment to and translates communication to industry standard RS-232-C interfaces. Enables Serial Connectivity Over Long Wire Lengths Standard RS-232-C wiring runs typically are not reliable beyond 50 feet. This device enables connectivity to serial devices up to 4000 feet away using CAT5 wiring.  Opto-Isolation. Optically isolates sensitive buses from each other and eliminates any possibility of ground loops and other electrically-induced noise which can interrupt reliable bus communication. Static Protection. Offers built-in static and surge protection to 16,000 volts, significantly above that offered by competing products. Firewall Protection. CS-Bus and RS-485 networks have strict communication requirements including collision avoidance, recovery and packet timing. This product links outside control devices with these networks to ensure reliable predictable performance while not interfering with proprietary traffic encountered on these buses.
